Pago Pago Mai Tai

Saturday, June 11:
My Tiki-hunting sidekick & fellow Kustom fan, Pete came up to hang out, trade mugs & sample my newly acquired Pago Pago Mai Tai recipe. The drinks were great.
Here's the recipe:
1 oz Pago Pago Mai Tai Mix*
1 oz Sour Mix
1 oz Myers' Rum
1 oz Silver Rum

Shake with crushed ice & serve in Double Old-fashioned glass or your favorite Tiki mug.
*Pago Pago Mai Tai Mix:
1/3 Honey
1/3 Orgeat
1/3 Orange Curacao

Papua New Guinea Mask

Thursday, June 9:
During our Memorial Day drive, I spotted this amazing Papua New Guinea mask at Old Glory Antiques in Fitzwilliam, NH. Today, I made it back up there with cash in my pocket & brought it home for my lounge. Upon returning home, I stopped at North Main Street antiques & scored a vintage Westwood Tiki Mug, a vintage Trader Vic's mug, Trader Vic' Pacific Island Cookbook & 3 contemporary, hula girl Zombie glasses. It was a good day for Tiki!

Atomic Ranch Magazine

Thursday, June 2
Picked up the Summer 2011 issue of Atomic Ranch magazine. Another great issue, this time with a feature on vintage travel trailers, a subject that has become increasingly intriguing to me. If you're interested in vintage travel trailers, I recommend grabbing copies of these 2 books; Ready To Roll by Arrol Gellner & Douglas Keister & Silver Palaces by Douglas Keister. The Matchbox trailer I've had since I was a little kid & was always one of my favorites. I know some of you have vintage trailers, I'd love to see some current pics of them on your blogs. Sunday, May 29:
Set up shop at the Amherst Automotive Flea Market today. I left my son to watch our booth & did a little poking around. I came across this Boston Braves program from 1972-73. It put a smile on my face cuz, when I was a puppy, playing for Marlboro Youth Hockey, we used to go to the Braves games as a team. When I opened the cover to find this amazing Bob Lee's Islander ad, I knew I had to cough up the 15 bucks & take it home. On the way home, we stopped at one of our favorite antique malls & I scored a matte black, OMC, Moai mug & 2 cheesy, South Seas paperbacks.

Tiki-Ti Mug Arrives

Not much of an adventurous day, but I did receive two packages today.
The first item to arrive was the Hi-Qs Hop & Bop CD I scored on ebay. A couple of years ago, I discovered the Rockabilly Revival channel on YouTube, http://www.youtube.com/user/rockabillyrevival, & was I hooked! I must have watched each video a hundred times, by now! HaHa! Since then, I've been trying to add as many of the bands featured to my music library. The Hi-Qs are the latest addition & I highly recommend them.
Package number two contained my Tiki-Ti 50th Anniversary mug, personalized by my friend, Sven. He also included some swizzles, stickers & brochures, as well as, a coupla matchbooks. In case you didn't know by now, I'm Big Kahuna on Tiki Central. Tiki-Ti, http://tiki-ti.com/pages/home.html, is a small, neighborhood Tiki bar that was opened in Hollywood, in 1961, by master mixologist Ray Buhen. It is still family-owned & one of the gems of Tiki Culture. I didn't make it to Tiki-Ti on my trip to California, but you can bet I will when I return in November.

Milltown 5 Rod & Kustom Show

This is where I'll be peddling my wares this weekend. Weather looks good & the quality of the cars seems to get better every year. Hopefully, I'll make some dough & maybe find some cool stuff, too. If you're in the area stop by.
